No matter what you want to be when you grow up, big dreams start small! Dreams start at the heart of the home. And yes mom and dad, you have an impact as to how your child will live out their dreams. But a reality check for all of us who have a dream for their child. It's not about our dream; it's their dream! The first thing we must be aware of when nurturing a child's dream is that the dream is their dream to dream!  How's that for a lot of dreams?!? Unfortunately, we do make the mistake of living vicariously through our children. Honestly, we don't mean to. However, it's a fault for wanting them to succeed and pushing them to the point of maybe what's in our heart more than what's in their heart. With the beginning of the New Year, it's important to consider what your child wants to achieve in their year. It's not about you, even though you're financing most of the dream. But that's a blessing for loving your child. The move has our family on the run. It's literally going to be a non-stop party for the next 2 1/2 weeks; and that's just to get to the new house. Phew! I'm exhausted already. Yet what I really want to focus on is what my children desire for their New Year!  So are you ready to take on this huge responsibility? Because big dreams start small. The K.I.S.S. ~ Dream big. Start small! It's all about the EPIcenter (the central point of something).

1. ENGAGE in conversation as to what your child wants for his/her New Year. This means ask a lot of questions leaving quiet time for them to answer. Don't fill in the blanks for them. This is their life to live out loud!
2. PRIORITIZE the dream. What do they really want to do by the end of the year? What do they want to celebrate by next Christmas? Keep in mind that the younger they are, the more unaware they are of time. The older they are, the time is seen through the school year.
3. IGNITE the plan. Put into practice what the child desires for their dream.
