This needs to be said very blunt. Too many of us are living life in the "I'm right, you're wrong" world. I understand the desire to want to be right. But ask yourself this tough question, how is it serving you? Are you really getting what you want by always being right?  You know you are not! You're probably more wrong than you are right. Welcome to the REAL world. What happens is that we build up walls and that becomes our focus. We play defensive and let the heart of our loved one slowly be broken. Sometimes we do it not meaning to. Other times we jab, twist, and turn to make the pain even greater. The person suffering more is you! When you choose to be assertive, advocating only for you; your thoughts, your values, YOUR way, you are telling your partner --- You DON'T matter! You're worthless!! But the underlying whisper of truth is where you are hurting yourself more. You shut out the one who wants to do life with you only TO. BE. RIGHT. "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new." ~ Albert Einstein You're gonna make mistakes. You're not going to do everything right. That sounds harsh. But it's reality. "Marriage is about two, not about you!" ~ Kristianne Wargo You're in it together. His mistake is your mistake. That's unconditional love. This is what Jesus shows us. He didn't come and walk this earth to die for our sins of His choosing. He died for ALL sins. ALL mistakes. Jesus is happy to say, "It's my fault." He gives grace and unconditional love.  We are to be the hands and feet of Jesus. So instead of saying, "It's not my fault!", give grace and unconditional love --- just talk! The K.I.S.S. ~ Just T.A.L.K.!!

1. THINK - True, Helpful, Important, Necessary, Kind; Considerate expression.
2. ACKNOWLEDGE - Paying attention to emotional and physical cues. Be attentive to his/her thoughts and expression.
3. LISTEN - What your partner is saying matters. Stop tuning out and tune in. Be present.
4. KNOW the heart - React in defense vs. Respond in love.
