Does free really exist? Of course not. Everything costs something. It may cost time, money, energy, email. You name it; everything costs something. So why is it that our children don't understand this concept? In fact, most adults don't get it either. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? If you are mean and say ugly things, it might cost you a friendship. And for others, a marriage. Everything costs something. So how can you set an example that exhibits more value than focusing on free? The K.I.S.S. ~ Instill V.A.L.U.E. in every day! Value --- the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something. Also, value is a person's principles or standards of behavior; one's judgment of what is important in life. If you want to instill value in every day, you have to look at both of these definitions. 

1. Validate the value. (What is it worth? And it doesn't have to be money related. It could be deed related.)
2. Avoid the popular. (Just because it is en vogue doesn't make it right.)
3. Lose the arrogance/pride (Drop the ego. Not everything is about you.)
4. Understand the consequences (good or bad).
5. Exemplify with actions. (Be an example).

Know who and what you value. That will begin to shift how you make decisions in your life, what you commit to, and who you want to become. Sharing this with your children will help them interpret what really matters in life; where the true value lies. "Everything costs something.
