With school starting a bit differently this year for all families, there seems to be a lot of fear. So how do you turn fear into a superpower? Nourish what you want to flourish! The K.I.S.S. ~ Nourish what you want to flourish! If you keep focusing on the fears your child faces, he/she will only see that fear. There will not be an option to escape. Nourish what you want to flourish. That's when your child's perspective (and your's too) will change for the better. Direct your child in the following areas. It's the F.D.A. of your overcoming your fears.
- Focus on what you can control. If you look at only what you don't know, you will always freak out. Minimize those freakout moments and focus on what you can control. Let's say your child has questions in class about a topic. Even if your child doesn't know how to formulate a question, simply raising his/her hand will alert the teacher to pause. Then, your child can express his/her confusion.
- Do what you know. Overcoming fears is doing what you know. And believe it or not, your child knows a lot. But he/she needs to be reminded of the effort he/she must put forward.
- Ask for help. You do not have to go through life alone. If you ever question what is going on, how to approach a situation, encourage your child to ask for help.
