This somewhat goes against the whole idea of marriage; two become one. We're supposed to be this intimate couple that shares everything.

• Awakens the soul. You feel alive!
• Makes you reach for more. You want to be better.
• Plants a fire in your heart. It's this never-ending nudge.
• Brings peace to your mind. It's a calm confidence.

But what happens as time moves on? Change happens. Growth occurs. There is movement on both sides. What happens when you are growing, you either grow together or you grow apart. If you grow apart, something becomes "less than" in your marriage.

• You may not be on the same page.
• You want different goals/dreams and feel like you can't come together on those goals/dreams.
• Your interests become too varied. There's no common ground.

However, you do not have to grow apart. You can grow together.  But that means you have to support each other. The K.I.S.S. ~ Support each other! Now understand though, that doesn't mean you do everything together. The fact is that you are committed to supporting each other.

1. Awaken your spouse's soul. Make your spouse feel alive. 
2. Help your spouse reach for more. Encourage your spouse to grow and be better.
3. Plant a fire in your spouse's heart. This is where the focus is caring for you. 
4. Bring peace to your spouse's mind. It's a calm confidence. This steadfast love that no one can deplete.

I want to give you an example. It was a very long first week back for the new year kick-off. Long hours for my husband, back to school for our youngest, 4 interviews for me, new design work for Create Your Now, a chapter written, two articles completed, plus everyday responsibilities. So the house got a little messy. Clean-up did not happen until Friday after my last interview. I say all of this because as in the quote from The Notebook, "That's what I hope to give to you forever." It's a two-way street. Both of you matter in this marriage. It's not just one of you. There is give and take. At times, you may give more. At other times, you may receive more. But it goes both ways. Be present in your marriage. Be incredible in the love you share. Be YOU because you said, "I do!" "Be present. Be incredible.
