• A health condition
• Infidelity
• Loss of job or relocation
• Bad habits (gaming, gambling, pornography)
• A general threat of divorce

Why do couples who vow, to love and honor til death do us part, have to be smashed up against a brick wall to understand the magnitude of their marriage problems? We can go and talk about Tom Brady and Giselle Bündchen, both reported to have hired divorce attorneys. Now my commentary of that is you don't know what's happening behind closed doors. Secondly, this marriage can still be salvaged. They can reconcile.  But just as Tom Brady has his regimen in training as one of the greatest of all-time quarterbacks, marriage needs a regimen too. In marriage, you must pursue with intention. The K.I.S.S. ~ Pursue with intention! You can't have what you want unless you work for it. You have a dream. It just doesn't fall out of the sky. You have to put in the work to make it happen. The same goes for a marriage.  You have got to pursue with intention.

1. DATE always. Don't ever make the mistake that you know everything about your spouse. You are changing every day, and so is your spouse. And because we age, our interests change too. So date always. Be curious about who you're sleeping next to. Be loving because you can. Be kind because you both deserve it.
2. CHOOSE to LOVE. Attraction is a choice. Don't make it a habit where only one of you in the relationship pursues the other intimately. Make time for each other. Letting your responsibilities get in the way of your heart and attraction is a dangerous road to walk. Choose to love openly and with intention.
3. ASK more than you guess. Assumptions will always get you into trouble. It's so hard to climb out of the ditch you dig so deep. Instead of guessing, ask! The more you inquire, the more you discover, the more you can love.

Pursue with intention. If only we would understand the ramifications of our actions or lack thereof, our families would be stronger for it. And the stronger our families, the stronger our communities and our country. Pursue your spouse with intention. "Be present. Be incredible.
