Moms got it rough. Remember the times when you paused for a brief moment to realize what you were saying you've said about 100 times before? You don't know what you don't know. Kids can drive you crazy, and yet you still have to maintain your calm in the chaos.  Where is the peace? You want to teach them what they don't know, but they aren't listening. Do we have to get on TikTok or SnapChat to be heard? All I can say is that's a marketing idea the social media giants have not thought of. (Thank goodness!) But let's be real and honest. You want to teach your child whatever it is...

• manners
• right from wrong
• reading
• writing 
• arithmetic
• cooking
• cleaning
• religious beliefs
• family traditions
• soft skills 
• entrepreneurial skills
• communication
• playing as a team
• how to love
• how to show compassion
• volunteering
• how to forgive

There are so many things in life. But getting your child to listen, where do you start when they don't know what they don't know? You've gotta level the playing field. The K.I.S.S. ~ Level the playing field! If it's one thing I learned in corporate that works well in the family is to level the playing field. Sometimes you just have to step up your game. 

1. Get creative! Don't let someone else's cuteness overrule your impact. How you teach is age or stage-specific. Maybe you use a movie to teach right from wrong.
2. Watch for patterns! Believe it or not, your child has patterns with how they do things. It might be the way they react to you when you interrupt their playtime for chore time. When you are alert and aware, you can play to those strengths and level the playing field. Call it unique trickery. 
3. Walk the talk! In other words, model more than you talk. Your child mutes you when you talk. So if you're modeling what you want to teach them, eventually, it will rub off. Now, you can use your words; just do it sparingly without talking as long as a dissertation.
