Life would be boring if it was lived perfectly. And confessions of an upset mama is the opportunity to live and learn; be there or be square. My youngest comes running into our bedroom asking me to see this. He was super excited to show me his new game and the recent update. Up on the bed he jumps, smiling from ear to ear. He begins to share what is happening on his tablet, while looking over his left shoulder to see if I'm paying attention. Well I had my phone, pen and book. And yes, working on something for you. But I was looking at what he wanted, just with my peripheral vision.  For about 95 seconds, I was the worst mama ever! I wasn't engaged how he expected me to be. But to me, I saw exactly what was going on. How the little worm became bigger as he ate other things. (A fun game called Mitosis.) Finally it hit me! How he wanted me engaged into the conversation was not what I was giving him. I had failed! I quickly put my pen down, phone away, and became present with him.  Relationships are the way you IMPACT! You can have impact my following this simple K.I.S.S.! The K.I.S.S. ~ Live in the presence!

1. Define what presence is for you and for those you love (i.e., your spouse, your children, your family, your co-workers, your friends, etc.). Understand how your husband sees you spending time with him. It's probably not how you see it. Same goes for your children. Assumptions get you into trouble. Be aware. Be alert!
2. Put away the distractions (digital devices, books/magazines, knitting, etc.). Whatever is a distraction for you and for your loved one. 
3. Be present.
