It's confession day --- are you paying attention to me? I found myself asking this question when I read 62% of school-aged children say they're parents are too distracted when they try to talk to them. I began to self reflect on how I was doing as a parent. So I was bold. I asked my children and some of their friends.  Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Oh and the examples were verbalized! Are you paying attention to me? Your children want more information as they grow older. Think about it. When you are passionate about something, you want to dive in and get the most information. Your children are passionate about YOU! You are their true love. Teens are 40% less empathetic than 30 years ago. Where were you 30 years ago? How did you relate to others. We have to be very careful. Are we raising empathetic children or busy children? Empathy is vitally important in relationships. But we aren't teaching this. The ability to understand and share the feelings of others is crucial to living life. Research confirms that children imitate both kind and selfish behaviors modeled by adults. Are your children shouting out --- are you paying attention to me? Through temper tantrums. By being defiant - going against your rules. By ignoring you. How can you raise empathetic children? The K.I.S.S. ~ Plant the seeds of empathy!

1. Look to whom you are speaking to.
2. Be who you want to see.
3. Respond how you would want to be responded to.
