There's no room for a gray area. [How could they do this (to me)? How could they make this decision or huge mistake? I'm always right. I told them so.] Everything's an argument happens because this is a reflection of you. [I raised you better.] Every had those thoughts? This isn't about you. How you did as a parent. What you did or didn't teach them. You have the opportunity to teach them a life skill --- communication. If everything's an argument, you are closing that door. You're telling them they're not worth the effort. [It's my way or the highway.] Episode 482 Confessions of an Upset Mama! Why won't my child talk to me? The K.I.S.S. is C.H.A.T. - Connect, Hear, Accept, Text. There is a positive side. If everything's an argument, at least you're communicating; maybe not effectively.  So let's figure a way to speak without biting and fighting. This is about what YOU can control, not trying to control the actions, words, behaviors, and emotions of others. What can you control to make sure that not everything's an argument? 1. Temper - Check your frustration level. Temper the temper.
2. Observe - What's really the problem? What's the scoop?
3. Negotiate - Consider the other side. Compromise. It's not about being right or wrong.
4. Encourage - Build up, not tear down.
