This month marks two decades since paid parental leave was introduced and yet fathers still only get two weeks unpaid leave - and New Zealand is one of only four OECD countries that offer no parental leave specifically for men.
Field worker with Kidz Need Dadz Allan Harvey told Mike Hosking that both parents can share the parental leave, but it can be a "hassle" with the paperwork.
"Most families, Mum takes it, and that's the easy way with the paperwork, as that's what's assumed by default."
