In their first meeting, France’s new president, Emmanuel Macron, and Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel agreed to focus on “deepening and crisis-proofing the EU”. The duo have been nicknamed Merkron in the German media and their relationship is central to the future of the European Union and to the Brexit talks.



Sylvie Bermann is the French Ambassador to the UK and Dr Peter Ammon is the German Ambassador to the UK.
