Last year, around 15 thousand people picked up a textbook, the lowest intake since 2011.
But Associate Professor Julia Slark told Mike Hosking she is positive things are changing, including current work on a pre-registration pipeline into the industry.
“And we’re looking at the supply and demand model, so we now know what we’re offering, but it’s a case of finding out what do we really need for nursing across the country.”
