A vaccine expert says the Janssen vaccine could be a useful back-up option, but may never form part of our vaccine roll-out.
MedSafe has provisionally approved the company's Covid-19 vaccine for use in New Zealand.
It could also approve the AstraZeneca vaccine next week.
Immunisation Advisory Centre Director Nikki Turner told Mike Hosking  it's clearly safe to use, but it may never be needed, or available.
“We have purchased and appear to be access more than enough Pfizer vaccine over the next few months, and there is a world shortage of Janssen, so we’re not likely to get it quickly.”
