With central banks around the world still dropping interest rates, there is some who thought New Zealand banks could buck the trend next month.
Most economists are forecasting an OCR rise in November, but ANZ is suggesting it could happen as soon as next month.
Chief economist Sharon Zollner told Mike Hosking there is good reason to be proactive.
“The Reserve Bank doesn’t need to panic, but there’s good reason to act promptly so you don’t end up in a scramble later.”
