show moreIt's been a big week for men's football. Jake Daniels, who plays for Blackpool in the second tier of the professional game in England became the first openly gay player in thirty years. The fact that he is the first man in such a long time to come out whilst still playing, highlights just how difficult and challenging it still is for gay men in professional sport. For many different reasons, they can't be their authentic self in a sporting setting. Ryan O'Callaghan had a successful career in the NFL, but despite coming out to his family while still playing, it wasn't until after his retirement he felt comfortable telling the world. He tells us his story.
