There's fear hard-fought gains for girls and women in Afghanistan will be reversed.
The Taliban's taken over the capital Kabul and foreigners and Afghans who helped international governments are fleeing the country in fear.
Wadood Pedram ran a high school in Kabul that was built and funded by the New Zealand-linked Lapis Lazuli charity and educated girls.
He's also a women's rights advocate, but told Mike Hosking darkness has descended since foreign governments pulled out.
“And at the moment, unfortunately, we’ve lost everything we have achieved in the past two decades.”
Wadood Pedram is holed up in Uzbekistan on a temporary visa.
He wants our Government to support women in Afghanistan and those who helped our country.
