When Ian Paisley set up the Democratic Union Party 46 years ago it was little more than a troublesome gang of disaffected Protestants nipping at the heels of the mighty Ulster Unionist Party. Now it's not only the biggest party in Northern Ireland, but it's the kingmaker on this side of the Irish Sea too.



Is it time for politicians in Westminster to take the party rather more seriously than perhaps they have done in the past? Our reporter Zoe Conway reports from Belfast.



Owen Paterson, the newly returned MP for Shropshire North and former Northern Ireland secretary, says having the DUP involved in Brexit talks "isn't a bad thing at all" considering one of the most contentious issues will be the Irish border.
